ATLANTA – National Church Residences is the recipient of a $95,000 grant from the Greater Atlanta COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund, a joint effort from the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and United Way of Greater Atlanta. The organizations have distributed nearly $1.8 million to 18 organizations for emergency response in this fourth round of grants. Altogether, they have awarded more than $10.5 million to benefit 62 nonprofits since March 17, 2020.
The organization will utilize the funding to support a centralized, on-demand food hub service for seniors, formerly homeless and people with disabilities in Fulton and DeKalb Counties.
“As COVID-19 continues to change the landscape of our nation every day, National Church Residences’ top priority is to ensure the basic care needs of our senior residents are met,” said Population Health Director Jacque Thornton of National Church Residences. “Locally, for the nearly 1,500 Fulton and DeKalb County residents we serve, our goal is to guarantee residents have food, access to medication, transportation, as well as personal protective equipment, and paper and cleaning supplies during this critical time.”
These funds will help improve the lives of seniors in nine National Church Residences communities in the Atlanta metro area. Grants made in the earlier rounds are detailed on both the Community Foundation’s website and United Way’s website. The next round of grants will be announced the week of April 27, 2020.
