Bell Crest Apartments Grand Reopening Ribbon Cutting.

Houston – Bell Crest Apartments is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated grand reopening celebration on December 7, 2023. This momentous occasion marks the completion of a comprehensive renovation project aimed at enhancing the living experience for its valued older adult and disabled residents.

Under the guidance of Alliance Architects, the design of the project has been meticulously executed to create a modern and inviting atmosphere. Whitestone Construction, renowned for their expertise in multifamily construction, was selected as the general contractor to ensure the highest quality of workmanship.

In 2021, National Church Residences acquired Bell Crest Apartments from The Salvation Army, along with seven other Texas communities in its portfolio. The connection between the Salvation Army and National Church Residences is a natural one, based on similar mission alignment with a commitment to affordable housing, support programs and a robust chaplaincy program to serve all residents, regardless of their beliefs. The Salvation Army sold these communities to put more focus on its service programs in Texas, such as combatting homelessness, responding to emergency crisis events, providing services to seniors, after-school programs and so much more. For National Church Residences, this acquisition reflects our commitment to providing affordable housing options and improving the lives of individuals and families in need.

Thanks to the support of the state, National Church Residences was awarded a 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credit, enabling them to undertake a wide range of repairs and upgrades. The following improvements have been made to Bell Crest Apartments:

  • Replacement of windows and roof to enhance energy efficiency and overall comfort.
  • Redesign and modernization of the common spaces, creating a welcoming environment for residents to socialize and relax.
  • Full renovation of all accessible units, ensuring they meet the highest standards of accessibility and comfort.
  • Installation of new entry doors and windows for both the building and individual units, enhancing security and aesthetics.
  • Upgraded cabinets, countertops, fixtures and flooring in kitchens, providing residents with a contemporary and functional space.
  • Replacement of sinks, vanities, toilets, accessories, fixtures and flooring in bathrooms, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment.
  • Installation of energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the property, reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainability.
  • Creation of an office space for a dedicated service coordinator, who will provide valuable support to residents and access to local resources.
  • Improved security features and outside lighting, enhancing the overall safety and peace of mind for residents.
  • Implementation of a new wireless e-call system, enabling residents to easily request assistance when needed.
  • Modernization and refurbishment of elevators, ensuring reliable and efficient transportation for all residents.
  • Replacement of the cooling tower and associated pumps, optimizing the HVAC system for improved comfort.

The grand reopening celebration will bring community partners, financial supporters, The Salvation Army, National Church residences staff and community residents together for a moment of joy and gratitude for the entire Bell Crest Apartments community. This significant investment in the property reflects National Church Residences’ dedication to providing safe, affordable and modern housing options for older and disabled adults in need.
