Volunteer Chaplaincy Program

At National Church Residences our Why is as important as our What. Yes, we are well known for What we do, a leading provider of quality affordable housing for seniors but it’s our Why that gives us a reputation that is notable. Whys are found in Core Values and at National Church Residences we have 5 of them; Purposeful Service, Compassion, Professionalism, Equity and Inclusion and Servant Leadership.

Even though each value is evident in every aspect of our organization, nowhere is the value of Compassion more emphasized than with our Chaplains. They are our Compassion Champions. As a unique group of trained professionals, Chaplains help us discover, embrace and celebrate our humanity.

Compassion is one of the greatest ways we feel our worth and since nothing is more important than a life, at National Church Residences we are committed to ensuring that every resident knows that they are valuable.

Through an innovative partnership with faith communities and philanthropic supporters, National Church Residences has been able to identify, train and deploy over a 100 Volunteer Chaplains who are serving thousands of our seniors in affordable housing.  But, with nearly 30, 000 seniors living in our communities, we still need a lot more Compassion Champions.

If aging offers us any advantage, it would be that the gift of years gives us a greater opportunity to grow, to grow as a person, as a human. And becoming a Better Human is a quest all of us should be on and Chaplains are some of the best to encourage, guide and support us on this journey.

Dr. Martin Luther King once said, “Life’s most urgent question is, ‘What are we doing for others?’”

Maybe becoming a Volunteer Chaplain is part of your answer. Apply today to become a volunteer!
