Community 5K brings Central Ohio together to support formerly homeless veterans at Commons at Livings.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — National Church Residences joined veterans, community members, supporters and local organizations on May 2 for the annual “Walk in Our Boots” 5K, a community-driven fundraiser supporting formerly homeless veterans living at Commons at Livingston, a National Church Residences community that houses homeless veterans, and includes handicap accessibility, on-site service coordination, and employment assistance.
Hosted at 73 W. Johnstown Road in Gahanna, the 5K brought the community together to raise awareness and support for veterans as they work to rebuild stable, independent lives. Proceeds and donations from the event directly benefit residents of Commons at Livingston, helping provide resources and supportive services that promote housing stability, employment and overall well-being.
Originally launched in 2023 by American Legion Post 797, the “Walk in Our Boots” 5K was created to raise awareness and funds for veterans transitioning out of homelessness. Through continued partnerships with organizations including National Church Residences, the event has grown into an opportunity for the Central Ohio community to come together in support of those who have served.
“The Walk in Our Boots 5K is a meaningful example of what can happen when a community comes together to support veterans”, said Adrian Furman, Community Engagement Manager at National Church Residences. “These residents have given so much in service to our country, and we are grateful for the continued support that helps ensure they have access to the housing, resources and services they need to move forward.”
