Common area at Mid-Tule Village

TULIA, Texas – National Church Residences announces the renovation of Mid-Tule Village, a $3.6 million rehab development completed in August 2021 that included numerous upgrades and enhancements to the community.

Purchased from Volunteers of America in June 2020, Mid-Tule Village provides one- and two-bedroom apartment homes to residents who are age 62 and older and/or disabled. The 50 units in garden-style buildings were originally developed by Volunteers of America in 1986 under the HUD Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program. Mid-Tule Village is located at 321 South East Seventh Street, Tulia, Texas 79088.

“National Church Residences is proud to invest in preserving affordable senior housing in the Texas Panhandle,” said Director of Housing Development, Tracey Fine. “Partnerships were key to Mid-Tule’s renovations, including support from 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credits from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and tax credit equity from the National Affordable Housing Trust. These updates improve quality of life for our residents and ensure that the community will serve area seniors for many years to come.”

Major upgrades to each of the apartments included updated kitchen cabinets, countertops and appliances; refreshed bathrooms; and comprehensive new flooring and window treatments. New sidewalks span the community, as well. Alliance provided architectural services, and construction services were provided by FTK Construction.

National Church Residences operates 32 communities in Texas, providing 1,997 apartments of affordable housing to seniors across the state.
