Columbus, OH – (March 3, 2026) – National Church Residences recently celebrated the second anniversary of Brookwood Point, marking two years of providing service-enriched housing for older adults in Columbus’ Berwick neighborhood.

Located at 2687 East Livingston Avenue, the 103-unit independent living community for adults age 55+ opened in 2024 on the historic site of the former Brookwood Point Presbyterian Church. Since welcoming its first residents, Brookwood Point has become home to a vibrant and connected community, offering a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments designed to support aging with dignity and independence.

“Over the past two years, Brookwood Point has become exactly what we hoped it would be – a place where older adults feel at home,” said Brianna Mettler, Senior Vice President of Senior Living & Senior Services. “It’s a beautiful community, thoughtfully designed and welcoming, but what truly makes it special is how it supports the people who live here. When you combine attractive spaces with meaningful services, you create stability, connection, and the opportunity for people to remain in the neighborhoods they care about.”

Brookwood Point was designed to provide high-quality living options at multiple affordability levels, made possible in part through a tax abatement from the City of Columbus and financing support from local partners. The community features chef-prepared dining, life enrichment programming, a fitness center, arts and crafts space, library, game room, landscaped outdoor areas and convenient access to public transportation, nearby parks and Bexley’s Main Street district.

In keeping with the legacy of the former church that served the Berwick community for decades, Brookwood Point incorporates historic memorabilia and architectural elements into its design, honoring the past while investing in the future of the neighborhood.

Over the past two years, residents have participated in year-round social programming, wellness initiatives and community partnerships that support connection and healthy aging. The community has quickly become a model for how thoughtful design, affordability and services can work together to help older adults remain independent and engaged.

Brookwood Point also reflects the growing need for housing that serves the “middle market”; older adults who earn too much to qualify for deeply subsidized housing but not enough to comfortably afford traditional market-rate senior living. As this segment continues to expand nationwide, communities like Brookwood Point are helping to close a critical gap by offering attainable rents paired with services and amenities that support independence. National Church Residences is responding to one of the most pressing challenges facing the senior housing industry today by intentionally developing communities at multiple affordability levels.

Brookwood Point reflects National Church Residences’ ongoing commitment to expanding high-quality senior housing options across Central Ohio and beyond. As rising housing costs and limited availability continue to impact older adults nationwide, the organization remains focused on developing communities that foster stability and aging in place.
