TULIA, Texas – National Church Residences has expanded its affordable senior housing portfolio in the Texas Panhandle with the acquisition of Mid-Tule Village in Tulia. The organization purchased the property on June 11, 2020, from Volunteers of America, who originally developed Mid-Tule in 1986 under the HUD 202 program. Major renovations are scheduled to begin in July to enhance and preserve the community for many years to come.
“We are excited to be able to begin renovation so quickly on Mid-Tule,” said Director of Senior Acquisitions, Daniel Patrick. “Our simultaneous closings on purchase and on 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credits from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and tax credit equity from the National Affordable Housing Trust allowed us to jump-start our plans to preserve and improve this senior housing community.”
Alliance will be providing architectural services and construction services will be provided by FTK Construction.
With 50 units in garden-style buildings, Mid-Tule will serve seniors age 62 and older and or disabled, offering one- and two-bedroom apartment homes. Amenities include a community room, outdoor patio and gardens, as well as a Service Coordinator to assist residents by identifying needs and connecting them with area providers. Mid-Tule Village is located at 321 South East Seventh Street, Tulia, Texas 79088.
National Church Residences operates 30 communities in Texas. The acquisition of Mid-Tule Village expands the organization’s state-wide units of senior housing to more than 1,800.
