National Church Residences will be transforming First Community Village’s campus over the next two years with additional common spaces inside the Chelsea, more outdoor features for residents to enjoy and the construction of the Fairfax, a 70-unit apartment complex for independent living. The organization is reinvesting in this community, located at 1800 Riverside Drive in Columbus, Ohio, so it can continue to serve the needs of seniors in this area.

The four-story Fairfax will offer seniors a smart gym, juice bar, spa and many more amenities – all designed to help residents remain healthy and live independently. While the apartments are designed for dual occupancy, the organization anticipates housing an estimated 130 new residents. Currently, 302 residents live on the First Community Village campus.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held today on the campus to celebrate the start of this $37 million project. Construction is expected to wrap-up in the summer of 2021 and residents will move into the Fairfax upon the building passing all of its inspections. The new amenities and upgrades to the campus are designed to advance the lives of the seniors living at First Community Village, enabling them to remain home for life.

Since First Community Village opened its doors in 1963, it has been a standard-bearer for senior living. It was the first continual care retirement community in Columbus and even today very few can match its depth of services, spanning from independent to assisted living, as well as memory care, rehabilitation and skilled nursing care.
