No matter what is happening around us, staying focused on the good in the world helps improve your mood. Try these stress management techniques to ease your mind and body during this unprecedented time.
- Turn on some classic tunes. Select songs that remind you of your family, favorite places and a simpler time. The music might inspire you to pull out photo albums to see those faces and places, too!
- Get some fresh air. Whether it is a short walk around your neighborhood or time spent in the garden, a change of scenery can brighten anyone’s day.
- Spend time doing good things for others. Helping others can boost your sense of purpose. Write cards for seniors that live in a building near your home. If you play a musical instrument or sing, you can stand outside the building and entertain the residents with a song or two. If you sew, you can make homemade facemasks.
- Enjoy a cup of tea. Try a tea with lemon, chamomile, or lavender — all have healing and calming benefits. It’s even better to drink it outdoors when the weather is nice.
