National Church Residences Grows Presence in Atlanta Area with Acquisition of Garden Terrace on the Christian City Campus

Press Releases | October 28, 2022

Garden Terrace

UNION CITY, Georgia – National Church Residences has finalized the purchase of Garden Terrace, located on the campus of Christian City in Union City, Georgia. The acquisition adds 20 affordable senior housing units to the National Church Residences presence in south metro Atlanta.

The connection between Christian City and National Church Residences is a natural one, based on common commitments to housing and supportive programs and a Christian vision of service to all, regardless of their faith.

“Our National Church Residences team is proud to continue our partnership with Christian City in this acquisition,” said Daniel Patrick, senior director of senior housing acquisitions at National Church Residences. “Combined with our 2021 purchases of Larry Moore Manor, John Sparks Manor and Gene Miller Manor, we are excited to be preserving affordable senior housing in the Atlanta metro area.”

In the fall of 2021, National Church Residences purchased Larry Moore Manor, John Sparks Manor and Gene Miller Manor. With the Garden Terrace acquisition, National Church Residences now owns 291 units on the 500-acre Christian City campus. In addition to active senior independent housing, the Christian City campus includes a variety of youth residential programs. A partnership with PruittHealth also provides assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care and a rehabilitation center on the campus.

“Christian City is honored to partner with National Church Residences and to have them on our campus,” said President and CEO, Keith Horton. “I have great confidence and trust in their leadership, their mission and their service delivery. The residents on our campus are excited to enjoy the renovations and enhancements they are providing, and I am excited for them.”

In the coming months, National Church Residences will begin approximately $750,000 in improvements and repairs to the four, one-story buildings built in 1987. Renovation plans include full updates of apartment kitchens, including new appliances, cabinetry and flooring, as well as enhancements to the community room and common areas. Modern accessibility standards will be put into place for public spaces and handicapped-accessible apartments will be completely renovated.

National Church Residences owns and operates 13 senior housing communities in metro Atlanta with 1,375 apartment units. The organization has been developing and managing affordable senior housing communities in the Atlanta market for more than 20 years. Currently, National Church Residences is the second largest owner of senior housing within the 29-county metropolitan statistical area, second only to the Atlanta Housing Authority.
