John Weigand joined National Church Residences in January 2015 as the Corporate Medical Advisor on Clinical Quality. He was named Chief Medical Officer in October 2015. A board-certified family physician who has specialized in Geriatric Care for over 20 years, Dr. Weigand is currently President of Central Ohio Geriatrics LLC, a private practice of physicians, geriatricians and physician extenders, located in Granville and Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Weigand has earned a number of awards, including “Hospice Physician of the Year” in 2010, “One of Central Ohio’s Best Physicians” of 2009 through 2014, “Columbus First Business Health Care Heroes Individual Nominee” in 2009, the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians “Ohio Educator of the Year” in 2004 and the “Distinguished Educator Award” as presented by The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

A graduate of the University of Akron and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr. Weigand completed his residency at Akron City Hospital where he served as Chief Resident. He then went on to serve in the United States Air Force Medical Corp at Offutt AFB in Omaha, Nebraska.

In 1996 he relocated to central Ohio and served as an educator at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and in the Mount Carmel Health System.

Dr. Weigand lives in Granville with his wife, Jan, and two children, Matthew and Molly. In his spare time he tends to his small apple orchard.
