Jennifer Spalding joined Cardinal Health in January 2016 as a Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Medical Segment. In this role she provides leadership and direction for diverse and complex organizations for the Distribution and Products businesses and advises senior executives in developing strategic business goals. She joined the National Church Residences Board of Directors in May 2016.
Before joining Cardinal Health, Spalding spent two years as Director of Health Policy and Alliances and Government Programs with Abbott Laboratories and 12 years as Counsel for Abbott Nutrition Legal Operations – with the final seven of those serving as Senior Counsel. During her time at Abbott she helped develop and oversee the vision and strategy for health policy initiatives relevant to the nutrition business and act as a liaison with government affairs.
She began her career in law in 1997 as an Associate with Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP in Columbus, Ohio. She later spent a year as an Associate with Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, LLP, in the Corporate and Business Group.
Spalding received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Centre College of Kentucky, where she was a four-time all-conference basketball player. She later earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Capital University Law School.
She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the New Albany Symphony Orchestra and has served on the Central Ohio Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
