Jim Moats recently retired as a partner of Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP where he led the Commercial Practice Group and practiced in the areas of real estate and banking law. He is a graduate of Denison University and The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Following graduation he was a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Moats is an active member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church where he has served as President of the congregation and Council Chair. He participates in the Bed Brigade ministry which supplies beds to those in need. He also volunteers at the Good Samaritan Food Pantry in West Jefferson, Ohio.
He previously served as the Chairman of the local Board of Westminister Thurber Retirement Community and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Communities (now Ohio Living). He joined the National Church Residences Board of Directors in August 2013.
