Floyd Jones retired in 2008 after a career in newspapers that spanned nearly three decades that included two stints with the Columbus Dispatch. At the time of his retirement, Jones served as Senior Vice President of Operations for the Dispatch Printing Company. He was also President of Consumer News Services, the parent company of This Week newspapers.
Jones’ first tenure with the Dispatch spanned from 1981 to 1994. He then spent 1994 to 1999 as the Vice President of Employee and Labor Relations with the Baltimore Sun in Baltimore, Maryland. He returned to the Dispatch in 1999. Before his career in newspapers Jones spent 10 years in a managerial role with United Parcel Service. From 1967 to 1971, Jones served as an Electronics Engineer with the United States Air Force, stationed in England.
Jones joined the National Church Residences Board of Directors in 2004 and has held the titles of Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Human Resources Committee. During his career he has also served on the boards of the Dispatch Printing Company, the American Red Cross, the United Way of Central Ohio, Community Shelter Board, the Increase Community Development Corporation, Franklin University and the Mount Carmel Foundation.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. He also possesses an honorary Doctorate from Franklin University.
Jones has been married to his wife Mary for 38 years. They have two children and five grandchildren.
