With the holidays right around the corner it’s time to start planning some fun, festive adventures for yourself! And even though Florida might not often offer you the chance to have a white Christmas, there are still a wide variety of terrific holiday events occurring throughout the state each year to keep you in the Christmas mood.

Let’s take a look at some holiday light displays and other activities happening in central Florida so you can find some great events to mark on your calendar!

Central Florida Christmas Light Events

  • ICE! At Gaylord Palms – This event in Lake Buena Vista features hand-carved ice sculptures and lighting displays, with this year’s theme being “A Christmas Story,” off of the classic film. You can purchase tickets on their site and the event runs November 16, 2018 through January 6, 2019.
  • 64th Annual St. Augustine Christmas Parade – Guests who attend this parade can take part in the “Night of Lights” trolley tours and enjoy a host of festive holiday displays. Held on December 1, 2018 beginning at 10 a.m.
  • Light Up UCF – From November 16, 2018 through January 1, 2019 you can attend the University of Central Florida’s CFE Arena for free holiday light shows, film festivals, and the biggest exterior ice-skating rink found in Orlando!
  • 25 Years and 25 Inns – Silver Jubilee Tour – This event in St. Augustine runs December 8-9 and has a “Music of Christmas” theme for this year. Guests can partake in a self-guided tour of more than twenty historic inns covered in holiday lights and decorations, and local food vendors will be on hand to offer up tasty and festive treats.
  • Bivona Christmas Light Show – The Bivona family in Winter Springs hosts this light show every year at 1601 North Wind Court. Members of the family are part of the IT industry and take their electronics very seriously, each year attempting to outdo themselves with inventive displays.
  • Johnson Family Holiday Light Extravaganza – This family lights display features more than 100,000 lights coordinated to change with the music of 20 Christmas songs. The display is located at 5119 Moore Street in St. Cloud, Florida beginning December 9, 2019.
  • Magic of Lights – This event, held at the Daytona International Speedway, begins on November 16, 2019 and runs through the holiday season until December 31. Guests will appreciate the beautiful light displays which feature a variety of holiday themes and utilize digital animations. Tickets range in price, starting at $20 per car in advance.
  • Holiday Lights in the Gardens – Running from November 23, 2018 through December 30, 2018, this event at the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo features more than 1 million Christmas lights, visits with Santa for the little ones, refreshments, and more!
  • The Wonderland of Lights and Santa’s Village – This Tampa theme park goes all out for Christmas, offering a variety of fun and festive displays from November 22 through December 29. Once you drive by their lighting displays, you can head to the Village where you can see circus attractions, amusement rides, and photos with Santa.
  • Symphony in Lights – The Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel, Florida hosts this yearly event which allows attendees to enjoy a wonderful light show, festive holiday displays, and delicious food. Best yet, the show is choreographed to the Christmas music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Shows run 6-9 p.m. beginning November 10, 2018 and ending December 31.
