COLUMBUS - National Church Residences is happy to announce that Peter E. Geier has joined the organization's Board of Directors.
Geier is the Principal of P. Geier Consulting, LLC, an organization that specializes in business process improvement, financial performance, governance and CEO/leadership team development. His clients include large academic medical centers, a national healthcare supply chain and data analytics companies and small to mid-sized firms seeking outside capital funding.
He is also Senior Lecturer and Executive in Residence in the Department of Management Science at The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business. In this role he teacher master’s and undergraduate courses in strategic planning and operational efficiency in the service industry. His responsibilities include management of year-long Healthcare Industry Immersion Program and involvement with Fisher Healthcare Associates student organization. He also serves as an active member of the Center for Operational Excellence.
Previously, Geier served as the Chief Executive Officer of The Ohio State University Health System from 2003 to 2016. During his tenure there, Geier directed all operational, financial and strategic improvement. He provided leadership and oversight for six hospitals, 1200 beds, over 40 primary care sites, ambulatory surgery centers, affiliated hospitals, and more than 16,000 employees. He also completed a financial turnaround of the health system, growing revenue from $550,000,000 in 2001 to $2,400,000,000 in 2015 and improved net income from a loss of $58,000,000 and a negative operating margin of (10.5%) in 2001 to a profit of $320,000,000 and operating margin of 13.5% in 2015.
Geier spent 17 years with Huntington Bancshares Incorporated where he was named Vice Chairman and President in 1996. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Insight Bank from 2006 to 2014.
He is a graduate of Purdue University with a B.S. in Business Administration and possesses an MBA from Butler University.
