NATIONAL CHURCH RESIDENCES WINS METLIFE FOUNDATION AWARD
Hopeton Village Receives $50,000 Grant
With MetLife Foundation Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing
COLUMBUS - National Church Residences is a recipient of the 2012 MetLife Foundation Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing for Hopeton Village in Chillicothe, Ohio, which includes a $50,000 unrestricted grant.
Presented by Enterprise Community Partners, Inc., and MetLife Foundation, the award honors National Church Residences’ leadership, innovation and quality in affordable senior housing. It also recognizes the organization for successfully incorporating green elements in their housing.
National Church Residences will receive an unrestricted grant of $50,000 and will be recognized at a ceremony in October at the LeadingAge conference in Denver. The MetLife Award is presented to four organizations nationally.
“We are pleased to celebrate National Church Residences as one of the recipients of the MetLife Foundation Awards for Excellence,” said Dennis White, president and chief executive officer, MetLife Foundation. “Because of their work at Hopeton Village, Chillicothe’s seniors are provided with effective and supportive housing as they age.”
Hopeton Village recently completed a $9 million renovation that brought affordable assisted living and a green retrofit. Now a combination of affordable independent living and assisted living apartments, the community opened in 1979 as National Church Residences’ second affordable senior housing community.
“All of us at National Church Residences are thrilled to win this award for Hopeton Village. We thank Enterprise and MetLife Foundation for providing this wonderful grant that will be used to make life even better for our seniors in Chillicothe,” said Jeff Wolf, senior vice president of philanthropy and communications at National Church Residences.
Created in 1996, the MetLife Foundation Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing honors nonprofit organizations and tribes or tribally designed housing entries that show exemplary best practices in the field of low-income senior housing.
“There are local heroes like National Church Residences in each community,” said Melina Pollack, vice president, Enterprise. “Through its creative model, National Church Residences is helping seniors lead vibrant, thriving lives, while setting a high standard for others nationally to emulate.”
The other 2012 recipients of the MetLife Foundation Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing are Menorah Housing, Long Beach Senior Housing, Long Beach, CA; Metro West Housing Solutions, Residences at Creekside, Lakewood, CO, and Rogerson Communities, Farnsworth House, Jamaica Plain, MA.
